Conversations with TED: 2022 Challenges Women are Facing in the Restaurant Industry

In this episode of Conversations with TED, we address some of the challenges facing women in the restaurant and hospitality industry.  The conversation is framed by facts and history, noting that while women represent half of the food industry workforce, they are not equally represented in leadership roles. Studies show that more diverse boards and leadership roles, including women and leadership, leads to improved outcomes and better customer engagement. 

During the pandemic, women were disproportionately more affected than their male counterparts due to family obligations and the lack of flexibility. When considering support for women in the restaurant industry, companies should consider agile schedules and benefits. In closing, the session speaks to opportunities to attract women to help fill positions during the current worker shortage.
