The Great Resignation

According to some surveys, employers are expected to see an uptick in the near future of employees resigning their jobs. Employers need to make sure that their recruiters have the right tools available to find qualified candidates, as some surveys report between 20% to 40% of employees intend to quit their jobs.

The positive side is that some employees intend to resign to take a position in a field that is better suited for them and that makes them happier.

Employers need to keep in mind that flexibility is key in being able to attract employees, because employees who have figured out a good work-life balance while working remotely are wanting to continue doing so. Also, employers need to have plans in place to facilitate relationships among co-workers and with leadership as many companies plan to allow employees to work remotely even after the pandemic.

Companies that made it through the pandemic in one piece now have a major new problem: more than a quarter of their employees may leave. What's happening: Workers have had more than a year to reconsider work-life balance or career paths, and as the world opens back up, many of them will give their two weeks' notice and make those changes they’ve been dreaming about. “The great resignation” is what economists are dubbing it. Surveys show anywhere from 25% to upwards of 40% of workers are thinking about quitting their jobs.
