EEOC Issues Guidance on Covid-19 Vaccines

The EEOC recently issued updates regarding the COVID-19 vaccine, including (1) confirming that federal EEO laws allow an employer to mandate employees physically entering the worksite to be vaccinated as long as reasonable accommodations are provided for medical and religious reason; (2) employers may offer incentives to encourage employees to be vaccinated and to provide proof of vaccination as long as the incentives are not coercive; and (3) employers may provide educational information regarding the benefits of vaccination.

The EEOC has also offered resources for applicants and employees who believe they are being harassed, who need an accommodation, and who are sick or who are not being allowed to work.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) today posted updated and expanded technical assistance related to the COVID-19 pandemic, addressing questions arising under the federal equal employment opportunity (EEO) laws.
