Taylor English Expands Footprint, Opens New Office in Charlotte with Addition of Gorman & Associates Attorneys

Atlanta, Ga.

(September 13, 2022) – Taylor English Duma LLP is pleased to announce that the Charlotte-based law firm, Gorman & Associates, P.A., has joined the firm effective September 1, 2022.  Three attorneys have become part of the growing Taylor English team, including Thomas J. Gorman, Gary B. Ernst, Jr., and H. Stanley Harris. In addition, Taylor English will establish its first physical office space in Charlotte, NC in the former Gorman & Associates space in Ballantyne Corporate Park.

Gorman & Associates concentrated on commercial real estate, corporate and business matters, estate planning and probate, and estate and trust administration. The firm was established in 1988 and serves clients in both North Carolina and South Carolina. As part of Taylor English, these attorneys will be able to continue to practice in these areas while adding depth and breadth of services with the entire Taylor English team.   

The three attorneys joining Taylor English from the firm include:

• Thomas J. Gorman, who has represented numerous commercial real estate clients, including developers of office condominiums, mixed-use projects, hotels and related amenities, retail, residential, and industrial and warehouse properties. He also assists business owners with everything from startups to advanced mergers and acquisitions. He has drafted more than 10,000 trusts for clients in the Carolinas, offering the full range of estate planning services. He also has a niche practice representing dentists and dental specialists. Gorman obtained his law degree from Duke University School of Law and practiced at two other law firms before starting Gorman & Associates in 1988.
• Gary B. Ernst, Jr., who practices in the areas of Estate and Trust Administration, Commercial Real Estate, and Corporate law. Ernst joined the business in 2018 and has handled dozens of complex estate administration (probate) and trust administration matters. Ernst earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, and is a member of the North Carolina State Bar.
• H. Stanley Harris, who has formed and represented scores of corporations, LLCs, and other business entities in North Carolina. Harris has nearly 40 years of experience in drafting Wills, Living Wills, Health Care Powers of Attorney, Trusts, and other estate planning documents. He earned his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law. Harris joined Gorman & Associates in 2021.

The Gorman & Associates attorneys expand Taylor English’s reach in the Carolinas. Prior to the recent additions, the firm had a presence in North Carolina with three remote attorneys: Scott Tobin, Michael Johnston, and Ryan Arnold. Now the firm adds physical office space in Charlotte. Taylor English plans to aggressively grow the Charlotte office over the next 18 months.  The firm continues to add office space outside of the Atlanta headquarters. Earlier this year, Taylor English launched in Miami, Florida with concrete plans for additional offices in the fourth quarter of 2022 and first quarter of 2023.
