On October 11, 2019, Micheline Kelly Johnson participated as a panelist at the International Federation of IP Counsel’s (FICPI’s) Open Forum in Vienna, Austria. The panel addressed “Recognizing Potential Conflicts in IP Law.” Ms. Johnson discussed the recent U.S. case of Altova GMBH which raises issues about the duty of care of IP practitioners with respect to conflicts between clients in the same field. The panel focused on the practitioners’ duty to predict potential conflicts and related considerations when accepting clients.
