The Roaring 2020s 'Will Be Fueled By Weed' As Cannabis Experts Predict Regulatory Shakeups In 2021

In an article that published in Benzinga on January 4, 2021, Reggie Snyder was quoted discussing predictions for ongoing cannabis reform, even as uncertainty surrounding the January 5 Georgia Senate runoffs remain.

While there was a Green Wave on Election Night 2020 and another Green Wave is possible, it would be dependent on several factors, including the Georgia runoffs. "If the Republicans maintain control of the Senate, then no currently pending marijuana legislation is probably going to make it through," Snyder says. “The recently House-passed MORE Act is awaiting a vote, as is the SAFE Banking Act and several other pieces of legislation. All of them are sitting there waiting their turn, but they won't get any real consideration.”

However, if reform doesn’t happen in 2021, Snyder thinks it is possible that it could happen in 2022. "I think 2021 will be a transitional year, one of adjustment for the Biden administration and whomever he appoints to the various positions," he adds.
