Taylor English Duma LLP is pleased to announce that partner Alison Ballard has been elected to the Georgia Appleseed Center for Law & Justice board of directors. Ballard’s election was effective as of May 2022.
Georgia Appleseed advances justice and equity for all Georgia’s children, with a particular focus on Black and Brown children, children experiencing poverty, LGBTQ+ children, children with disabilities, and children in foster care. Georgia Appleseed is focused on keeping kids in school and out of the criminal justice system; promoting support for students with behavior and learning challenges; and ensuring children and their families have safe and healthy housing. The organization works to increase justice in Georgia through nonpartisan law and policy reform and community engagement.
Ballard has been involved with Georgia Appleseed for over a decade, having co-founded Georgia Appleseed’s Student Tribunal Project, which trains attorneys to pro bono represent Georgia foster children in school disciplinary hearings.
Ballard is a litigation partner at Taylor English where she has practiced her entire career. She represents clients in commercial disputes and litigation in federal and state courts and in arbitration. Ballard focuses her practice on the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, trade secrets, restrictive covenants, employment disputes, contracts, and business torts. In addition to representing clients, Ballard serves as Taylor English’s Deputy General Counsel. She also serves other leadership roles in her community, including on the Board of Trustees for the Art Institute of Atlanta.
