Taylor English is pleased to announce that Jeffrey J. Nix has received an award from the Legal Services Corporation for his commitment to pro bono legal services in Georgia. On January 26, 2017, Mr. Nix and three other Georgia attorneys were presented awards at the Pro Bono Awards Reception. Mr. Nix was nominated by the Atlanta Legal Aid Society where he has volunteered for more than 10 years providing advice, support and legal assistance in drafting estate documents for cancer patients and veterans.
A board member and pro bono volunteer for the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, Mr. Nix also donates his time drafting wills and estate documents, and teaching others to draft estate documents for individuals battling serious health conditions such ALS, MS, and AIDS along with civil servants such as firemen and police. He also represents veterans of the military services in seeking disability benefits for service-related injuries or illnesses. With a background in construction, he has assisted in the building of more than 50 Habitat for Humanity homes.
For nearly 30 years, Mr. Nix’s legal practice has focused on construction law representing stakeholders involved in every facet of the industry. His clients span across all sectors of the construction industry, ranging from small, closely held businesses who construct high-end residential housing to Fortune 100 companies constructing power plants or manufacturing facilities.
Legal Services Corporation is an independent nonprofit established by Congress in 1974 to provide financial support for civil legal aid to low-income Americans. The Corporation currently manages a budget of $500 Million Dollars and provides funding to 134 independent non-profit legal aid programs in every state, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories.
