Taylor English Duma LLP is pleased to announce the addition of Thomas V. Chorey as a partner in the Corporate Practice Group. He joins the firm from Barnes & Thornburg LLP in Atlanta.
“Tom is a valuable addition to our robust corporate practice,” said Marc Taylor, a founding partner of Taylor English. “His wealth of knowledge, experience, and reputation within Atlanta’s business community will certainly benefit our clients.”
With over 30 years of focused experience, Chorey regularly serves as outside general counsel to multiple Southeastern and Atlanta-based middle market businesses, addressing legal and strategic planning issues throughout their life cycles. In early stages, he assists in structuring business entities to maximize liability protections and tax efficiencies, while at the same time providing a platform for strategic internal growth. A large part of Chorey’s practice is focused on mergers and acquisitions, both buy and sell side, as well as internal succession planning. He regularly counsels his clients on daily operating issues, including executive employment, restrictive covenant and other employment matters; represents them through capital raises, both equity and debt, including securities compliance matters; and regularly negotiates and documents complex commercial contracts on clients’ behalf.
Mr. Chorey has served clients in a wide variety of industries including healthcare, professional services, and environmental. With a Masters in Taxation, Chorey integrates into his practice proven tax planning strategies that minimize clients’ tax burdens. He also brings to the table a wide spectrum of individual wealth management and estate planning techniques which provide financial guidance in each phase of his clients’ growth.
Exemplary in his accomplishments, Chorey has been selected for inclusion in Georgia Super Lawyers (2004-2018), Georgia Trend Magazine’s “Georgia’s Legal Elite” and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America publication.
Chorey was selected for Leadership Atlanta in 1993, and he is a member of the Atlanta Estate Planning Council.
Chorey earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Virginia, and he holds an LL.M. in Taxation from Emory University.
