As a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group at Taylor English, Hyland focuses her practice on intellectual property, media and First Amendment counseling and litigation. She serves a variety of corporations across industry segments, including Fortune 100 companies, telecommunications companies, national publishers, manufacturers, restaurant chains, and corporations in the energy and water infrastructure industries. Hyland handles complex lawsuits on the state and federal level, including trademark, copyright, patent, trade secret and false advertising disputes. Additionally, Hyland has significant experience with transactional intellectual property matters, including United States and international trademark applications and prosecution, licenses and assignments, usage issues, copyright applications and due diligence. She maintains the trademark portfolios for several high-profile clients.
Hyland is passionate about bringing her skills to non-profits, concentrating on political advocacy groups, animal- and child-related organizations and other social welfare institutions. She focuses on advising 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations on legal issues surrounding their use of social media, blogs, merchandising and educational efforts, as well as their rights under the First Amendment.
Hyland is actively involved in several professional organizations including the Atlanta Intellectual Property Inn of Court, International Trademark Association and the State Bar of Georgia’s Intellectual Property section. She is also heavily involved in the community, and currently is on the Executive Board of Kate’s Club.
Hyland earned her undergraduate, master’s and law degrees from the University of Florida.
