Taylor English Duma LLP has established a new physical office space located in Miami, Florida, firm leaders announced today. This is the first brick-and-mortar space outside of Atlanta. The firm tapped newly hired partner Steven W. Zelkowitz to serve as the South Florida Market Managing Partner and to rapidly expand the office and add more attorneys in the South Florida area.
“This is a new day for Taylor English,” said Marc Taylor, chair of Taylor English. “At the beginning of the year, we announced that we were actively looking at markets across the country for small, boutique offices. The Miami market is a great fit for our firm. We are not only expanding our presence, we are also offering a physical space for attorneys and clients to use as needed.”
Steven W. Zelkowitz, a new Taylor English hire, is actively seeking candidates to expand the practice and add more attorneys to populate the new office space. Zelkowitz has vast experience growing other firms within the South Florida market.
“It is very humbling to be part of a great firm, and to have the unique opportunity to build and grow this office,” Zelkowitz stated. “I look forward to using my 30+ years of experience to serve Taylor English clients and expand the footprint in Miami and South Florida. I was drawn to Taylor English not only by the forward-thinking vision demonstrated by firm leaders but also by the unique compensation system.”
His practice focuses on real estate, financial services, hospitality, infrastructure and development, and public/private partnerships. He often represents domestic and foreign clients on complex real estate transactions, land use and zoning matters, and the purchase, development, and financing of commercial and residential properties. He has previously served as Managing Partner of Am Law 100 and Am Law 200 law firms in Miami. During his career Zelkowitz has earned numerous legal accomplishments and awards, as well as serving as an elected official in Miami Shores Village.
“Our model is different in that our goal is to drive value to the client with every interaction,” added Taylor. “We strive to offer flexibility and transparency not just for our clients, but for our attorneys as well through our objective, real-time compensation system. I’m excited to see what Steve can do in this market with our service, which is different from our competitors.”
“This is just a starting point. We are building a large Taylor English presence in South Florida,” said Zelkowitz. “I am enthusiastic and empowered by the service that Taylor English offers clients. I look forward to continuing to serve the Miami market and establishing the Taylor English brand here in Miami and throughout South Florida.”
The Miami office will be located downtown and will serve as an as-needed space for attorneys, paralegals, and other staff. Taylor English will maintain its headquarters in Atlanta. The firm now has attorneys in 12 states across the country.
