Beverage giant PepsiCo has rolled out its model for "return to work" (a phrase I hate, as it implies that we haven't all been working our tails off during the pandemic). Their program is called "Work That Works," and the core concepts are choice and flexibility. As their Chief Talent Officer Sergio Ezama describes the foundation of "Work That Works," he explains that the starting point is that the physical office is no longer the default environment, from which variations or exceptions flow: "The first key idea is there is no default workplace."
Everyone doesn't want to want to work remotely, just as everyone doesn't want to be required to be in an office every day. The common denominators seem to be choice and flexibility, without sacrificing company culture. I think PepsiCo has struck the right balance.
