College Athlete cashes in on NIL rights - a glimpse into what lies ahead.....

While details of the ultimate rule changes governing college athletes at NCAA schools for licensing of their respective name, image and likeness rights remain in limbo,  the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics changed its NIL rules last October.

The article featured here paints a picture of what it might look like to make NIL money as a college athlete, from the perspective of a highly creative freshman volleyball player at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Mich. Chloe Mitchell may be the first college athlete to be compensated for their NIL, on the strength of building a unique personal brand through social media, and in a way totally unrelated to her role as an athlete.

What kind of NIL opportunities do you see for college athletes, especially women college athletes?  I see endless opportunities, to be honest. I’m not a large-scale athlete. I’m not on someone’s TV every weekend. And I’m already working with brands. So much of that depends on what kind of person you are, what you’re interested in, how much you’re willing to work. Do you have any volleyball-related deals? No! I haven’t had one. Which is the craziest part.
