Regulation CF, the SEC exemption that facilitates online crowdfunding, made possible equity commitments of nearly $240 million in 2020, exceeding the $134 million benchmark achieved in 2019.
Made possible through the 2012 JOBS Act, Regulation CF makes it possible for entrepreneurs to raise money by selling securities to the crowd through licensed crowdfunding platforms.
The SEC recently adopted amendments to Regulation CF that should make the exemption easier for entrepreneurs to use.
